How I Finally Got Rid of Lifelong Psoriasis – After 50 Years of Trying Everything

If you’ve been living with chronic psoriasis for years, maybe decades, you’ve already tried the creams, the diets, the specialists and maybe even biologic treatments. You’ve been hopeful, then disappointed, so many times that hope itself starts to feel like a risk. I know, because that was me for fifty years.

I was born with psoriasis. It showed up on my scalp, worsened when I was ten, and became a constant companion I desperately wanted to separate from. The itching and the appearance were bad, but the hiding and shame were worse.

Then, about four years ago, I discovered the Emotion Code, an energy healing modality focused on identifying and releasing trapped emotions stored in the body. I was very skeptical. After fifty years and every treatment imaginable, I had earned my skepticism. But I was still searching for a solution. After sixteen sessions of focused emotional release work, my psoriasis was gone. Completely.

That experience changed how I understand the body, and it’s why I now help others do the same.

What Psoriasis Actually Is? And How Many People It Affects

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition. It is not contagious. It is not caused by poor hygiene. And it is far more common than many people realize:

  • Over 125 million people worldwide live with psoriasis, which is roughly 2–3% of the global population. In North America, it is about 3% of the population, and in some European countries, it reaches 4.6%.
  • It is one of the most prevalent autoimmune conditions, alongside rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.
  • For many, it begins in childhood or early adulthood and persists for life.
  • Severity varies widely. From small, manageable patches on the skin to widespread coverage affecting daily function.

Standard medicine offers only management: topical steroids, immunosuppressants, biologics, UV therapy. These can help. But for many people, including me, the flakiness keeps coming back.

The Emotion Code eventually helped me answer the question that is rarely asked in conventional treatment: why is the immune system dysregulated in the first place?

The Emotional Weight of Living With Chronic Psoriasis

The physical symptoms of psoriasis are visible. The emotional ones are not, but they run just as deep.

I remember getting a haircut as a teenager and having the hairdresser recoil, loudly announcing to the salon how disgusting my scalp looked. I wanted to disappear. From that day on, every haircut was an exercise in dread. Every social situation where someone might notice carried the same level of anxiety.

This is not unusual. Research consistently shows that people living with chronic psoriasis experience higher rates of:

  • Anxiety and anticipatory fear (“will someone see it today?”)
  • Depression and feelings of worthlessness or shame
  • Social withdrawal and avoidance of physical intimacy
  • Reduced quality of life, often disproportionate to the physical severity of the condition

The body, and therefore the skin, is working together with the mind. The nervous system, the immune system, and emotional processing are deeply interconnected. Chronic stress and suppressed emotion can keep the immune system in a state of dysregulation, which is the very state that drives autoimmune flares.

This is increasingly supported by the field of psychoneuroimmunology, which studies how psychological states affect immune function.

What Is the Emotion Code And How Does It Work?

The Emotion Code was developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson, a chiropractor who observed that unresolved emotional experiences, referred to as trapped emotions, can become lodged in the body and contribute to physical and emotional dysfunction.

The premise is this: when we experience a difficult emotion like grief, shame, fear, or anger, but don’t fully process it, that emotional energy can become stuck in the body’s energy field. Over time, these trapped emotions create an emotional load: a cumulative weight that the body carries, often without conscious awareness.

This emotional load doesn’t stay abstract. It can show up as:

  • Chronic pain with no clear physical cause
  • Anxiety or persistent low-grade fear
  • Sleep disturbances and fatigue
  • Autoimmune conditions and skin disorders
  • Excess weight
  • Brain fog, difficulty concentrating and or ADHD
  • Undesired emotional patterns that feel stuck or repeating

Using a form of applied kinesiology (muscle testing) or a surrogate method for remote sessions, an Emotion Code practitioner identifies which specific emotions are trapped, and often when they became lodged, sometimes tracing back to childhood, or even to emotions inherited from ancestors (a concept supported by emerging research in epigenetics).

Once identified, the emotion is released using a simple intention-based technique involving the governing meridian, a key energy channel in the body.

The Body Code and Belief Code expand this work further, addressing structural imbalances, pathogens, toxins, nutritional deficiencies, and deeply embedded belief systems that shape how we experience the world. Together, these tools offer a comprehensive approach to identifying what is out of balance: physically, energetically, and emotionally.

Sessions take place online via Zoom, making this work accessible regardless of where you are in the world.

My Own Story: When Psoriasis Has an Emotional Address

I was born with psoriasis. It appeared on my scalp, and by the time I was ten, it had become a source of constant suffering. Relentless itching and flaking, but even worse than that was the shame that clung to it. I did everything I could to hide it. Every haircut was a nightmare. Once, a hairdresser announced to the entire salon that my scalp was disgusting and refused to touch it. I was maybe 11 years old, and I never forgot that humiliating moment.

Over the following decades, I tried everything. Specialists. Medications. Special diets. Ointments so heavy they could only be removed with laundry bar soap, applied every single week. I even travelled to bathe in the sun at the Dead Sea. Some things brought temporary relief. Nothing lasted.

Later in life, I practiced hypnosis and self-hypnosis, which brought some improvement and relief that lasted longer than before, but the Psoriasis returned. More treatments. More frustration. More hiding.

About four years ago, I began studying the Emotion Code. As part of my certification, I needed case studies to complete the work, and I decided, cautiously and with very measured expectations, to work on psoriasis myself. After fifty years and every treatment imaginable, I was skeptical with only a little hope. I was too scared to believe it could actually change.

But I did the work. Session by session, I released trapped emotions, old, unprocessed feelings that had accumulated and lingered for years. Among what surfaced:

  • Shame carried since childhood and added during life, lodged deep from decades of hiding and humiliation
  • Hopelessness heavy and layered, built from fifty years of trying and failing
  • Defensiveness, the body perpetually braced, perpetually on guard
  • Grief unprocessed loss that has never been fully named or felt
  • Self-abuse a long-running pattern of harsh internal judgment
  • Other imbalances that, on the surface, seemed to have nothing to do with my skin, but they did.

After every session, I’d check for any difference. For a long time: nothing.
The psoriasis was still there.
My frustration was growing, and I felt defeated. But I kept going. One more session, then another.

After the sixteenth session, suddenly, and all at once, it was gone!

I couldn’t believe it. For the first time in my life, my scalp was completely clear. I could feel my own skin. Fifty years of hiding, avoiding certain foods, using special products, panicking before every haircut appointment, and just like that, it was all gone.

Four years have passed, and my skin is still clear. No more treatments, no more hiding!
Freedom!

That experience got me thinking about the emotional load we all carry, and it’s what led me to do this work with others.

A Client’s Story

A woman came to me after fifteen years of living with psoriasis and every treatment her dermatologist could offer. She told me upfront that she wasn’t a believer in energy work. She was simply out of options.

Session by session, we released trapped emotions: shame, hopelessness, defensiveness, grief, self-abuse, and other imbalances that seemed unrelated to the psoriasis. For weeks, nothing visible changed. She was frustrated. So was I, honestly.
She wanted to keep on going.

By the ninth session, she finally noticed a huge shift. The patches on her skin decreased dramatically, and the redness almost disappeared.
We worked together for 5 more sessions until there were no signs of psoriasis.

Last time we talked, there were no signs. Her experience may not be identical to mine or yours; results vary, and I won’t pretend otherwise. But this kind of shift, after years of conventional treatment, is something I witness regularly.

What Emotion Code Sessions Actually Look Like

The structure of a session is quite simple, especially when done online via Zoom.

A typical session runs for 30-45 minutes and involves:

  • Intake: understanding what you’re experiencing, what you’ve already tried, and what feels most present for you right now
  • Muscle testing or Pendulum swinging: using the body’s subtle responses to identify which emotions or imbalances are most relevant in this session (surrogate testing is used for remote sessions)
  • Release work: once an emotion is identified, a simple magnet or intention-based technique releases it from the body’s energy field
  • Check-in: noting any immediate shifts, sensations, or insights

The pace is gentle, and unlike talk therapy, you don’t need to relive the memory or tell the story behind each emotion.

With Psoriasis, change rarely happens all at once. For most people, as it was for my clients and for me, the progress is gradual, then suddenly visible. Each session peels back a layer. The body, no longer weighted by the same emotional load, begins to function differently.

Why This Works: The Connection Between Emotions and Autoimmune Disease

Autoimmune disease, by definition, is the immune system attacking the self. The body is in a state of chronic internal conflict.

When I look at that description through the lens of the Emotion Code, it prompts a genuine question: what unresolved emotional conflict might the body be expressing?

For me, it was fifty years of shame, hiding, bracing and a big inherited emotional load. Emotions I had carried so long, I no longer recognized them as emotions; they had just become part of how I moved through the world.

Releasing them means that the body no longer has to carry them. And when the burden lifted, the immune system, perhaps no longer reading the world as a constant threat, began to settle.

This is not a claim that emotion is the only factor in autoimmune disease. Other factors like genetics, environment, and physiology play different roles. But the emotional component is real, significant, and must be addressed. That is where the Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code offer something that conventional medicine often cannot.

What You Can Realistically Expect

I want to be honest with you, because I know what it’s like to be on the other side of hope that didn’t land.

Results vary. Some people experience significant shifts in a handful of sessions. Others require more sustained work. Some see improvements in their psoriasis directly; others notice shifts in related patterns first, like less anxiety, better sleep, a quieter internal chatter, before the skin begins to respond.

What I can tell you is this:

  • The work is cumulative. Each session builds on the last.
  • The body often releases more than you’re consciously aware of,  which is why results sometimes appear between sessions, not during them.
  • You don’t need to believe in this completely for it to be worth exploring. Skepticism is welcome. Some didn’t believe either (like the example above).
  • There are no miracle claims here. There is a consistent body of experience that says the emotional load we carry matters, and that releasing it can change things.

You’ve Carried This Long Enough

If you are living with chronic psoriasis or any autoimmune condition, and you have tried the treatments and hit a wall, I understand the particular exhaustion of that place.

The Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code don’t promise to fix everything. They offer something most approaches don’t: a way of looking at the body that includes what it has felt, not just what it has shown on the surface.

Fifty years of psoriasis ended for me not with a new medication, but with the release of emotions I didn’t even know I was still holding. That’s what I hope for you: a lighter way of being in your body.

If you’re curious whether this could help you, I’d love to talk.
