If you’ve been living with chronic pain and every test comes back normal, you already know how isolating that is.
The pain is real. It interrupts your sleep, your work, and your relationships. The frustrating thing is that no one can tell you where it’s coming from. You’ve probably tried several things. Some helped a little. Nothing held.
This is exactly the kind of situation where Energy Healing, such as Emotion Code and Body Code, often makes a difference. They don’t replace medical care, but they address something medicine rarely considers: the emotional and energetic dimensions of physical symptoms.
Why Some Chronic Pain Has No Clear Medical Cause
Conventional medicine is built to find structural problems. A disc herniation, a torn ligament, and inflammation markers in the blood. When those things are present, there’s a clear path forward. When they’re absent — and the pain is still very much there — most people are left without answers.
What’s now well-established in pain research is that pain is not simply a signal from damaged tissue. It’s an output of the nervous system, shaped by stress history, emotional experience, and the body’s accumulated memory of difficult events. Researchers in psychoneuroimmunology, trauma therapy, and somatic medicine have been documenting this connection for decades. The body and mind are not separate systems operating in parallel. They are one system, and chronic pain is often that system asking for attention in the only language it has.
Anxiety plays a significant role here, too. Chronic anxiety keeps the nervous system in a low-grade state of threat response. Muscles stay braced. Blood flow is altered. The body interprets ongoing emotional stress as physical danger, and pain becomes part of the signal. People living with chronic pain often also carry anxiety, and sometimes the two are so intertwined that addressing one begins to shift the other.
What Are Trapped Emotions, and What Do They Have to Do With Pain?
Dr. Bradley Nelson, a former chiropractor and the developer of the Emotion Code, proposes that unprocessed emotional experiences leave an energetic imprint in the body. He calls these trapped emotions.
When something difficult happens, like a loss, a period of sustained stress, a shock, or a long-standing conflict, the emotion it generates is meant to move through and resolve. When it doesn’t, it becomes lodged in the body’s energy field. Over time, these trapped emotions can interfere with the normal function of surrounding tissues and organs, sometimes manifesting as physical symptoms, including chronic pain.
This isn’t a fringe idea. Somatic therapists, trauma researchers, and practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine have long pointed to the body-emotion connection. The Emotion Code simply offers a systematic method for identifying and releasing these imprints.
The Body Code expands further, addressing:
- Energetic imbalances
- Structural misalignments
- Toxins and pathogens affecting the body’s systems
- Nutritional and circuit imbalances
- Unresolved emotional layers beyond trapped emotions
Together, the Emotion Code and the Body Code look at the whole picture, and they often find things that nothing else has addressed.
How a Session Actually Works
Sessions can be done online via Zoom or remotely by email, with no difference in effectiveness. The energy field is not confined to physical proximity, and remote work using proxy muscle testing is a well-established part of this practice.
Here’s what a typical session looks like:
We connect and set an intention
You share what you’re experiencing. We don’t need a medical history or a list of diagnoses. We simply start with what’s present for you.
I use muscle testing or a pendulum to ask the body questions
Muscle testing and a pendulum are forms of biofeedback. The body responds to yes/no questions with subtle changes in energetic resistance. It’s not a guessing process. It’s a structured conversation with your body’s own intelligence.
We identify what needs to be released, balanced, or realigned
This might be a specific trapped emotion. It might be an imbalance in a particular organ system, an energetic disconnection, or a pattern that’s been inherited through family lines. Often, what comes up seems unrelated to the physical symptom. That’s normal. The body operates in interconnected layers.
We release, balance or realign it
A magnet is drawn along the governing meridian — the central energy channel that runs along the spine — which amplifies and clears the identified imprint. For online sessions, this is done by proxy.
Integration
The body continues processing for up to 72 hours after a session. Some people feel lighter immediately. Others feel tired or briefly emotional as things settle. Both are signs of the body doing its work. Some won’t feel a thing but will notice the changes with time.
A Client’s Experience: Years of Neck Pain, Gone After Four Sessions
One client came to me with chronic neck pain they’d been managing for several years. They had seen physiotherapists, chiropractors, and a specialist. There was nothing structurally wrong. All tests got back normal, but the pain persisted anyway.
Over four sessions, we worked through a series of trapped emotions and imbalances that came up through muscle testing and pendulum testing. Some were clearly connected to the stress and strain of difficult periods in his life. Others — emotions like guilt, hopelessness, defensiveness, and grief — seemed less obviously linked to their neck. The body doesn’t organize itself the way we’d expect. It holds what it holds, and sometimes pain is the address where a much older burden has been living. We look at it as “everything can cause everything.”
We also addressed some energetic imbalances that weren’t emotional in origin. Session by session, their neck began to ease. The pain didn’t lift all at once. It shifted gradually, the way genuine healing tends to move. After each session, they felt better than before. By the fourth session, it was gone.
I want to point out that this kind of outcome is meaningful and does happen. It is also not guaranteed. Everyone comes in carrying a different history, different layers, and a body that moves at its own pace. Some people feel a significant change in two or three sessions. For others, it takes longer. What I consistently observe is that when we address the right things in the right order, the body responds.
What Progress Tends to Look Like Over Time
If you’re considering this work, it helps to know what to expect. And also, what not to expect.
Each person responds slightly different and results can vary. I listed a generalization of what I see when I work with my clients.
Early sessions (1–2):
- A noticeable sense of release or lightness after the session
- Temporary fatigue as the body integrates
- Small but real shifts in pain level or tension patterns
- Sometimes, old memories or emotions surface briefly. This is the body processing, and it passes
Middle sessions (3–5):
- More consistent reduction in pain intensity or frequency
- Improved sleep in many cases
- Reduced anxiety and reactivity to stress
- A growing sense that the body is actually changing, not just masking
Ongoing work (if needed):
- Continued peeling of layers
- Physical improvements that hold rather than fading
- Often, broader shifts in emotional well-being alongside the physical
The pace is individual. A person carrying decades of unprocessed stress and emotion may need more sessions to reach the same place as someone dealing with a more recent or focused issue. We follow what the body shows us, not a fixed protocol.
Are Emotion Code and Body Code Right for You?
This work tends to resonate with people who:
- Have been told their tests are normal, but continue living with chronic pain
- Notice that symptoms worsen during periods of stress or emotional difficulty
- Have tried conventional and alternative approaches without lasting results
- Are open to the possibility that the body stores more than it shows
It also works well alongside medical treatment. If you’re working with a doctor, physiotherapist, or therapist, Emotion Code and Body Code don’t interfere with that, they often complement it.
Online Emotion Code and Body Code sessions via Zoom or email are available. The process is identical to in-person work, and many clients actually prefer the convenience of working from home.
The Bottom Line
Chronic pain that has no clear explanation is exhausting to live with both emotionally and physically, and very often mentally, too. It can quietly erode your confidence, your patience, and your hope that things could be different.
What I’ve consistently seen in this work is that the body is not holding on to pain arbitrarily. There is usually something there, such as an old emotion, an unresolved experience, or an energetic imbalance that, when addressed, allows the body to finally let go.
Results vary. This isn’t a miracle system, and I won’t tell you it works for everyone. But for people whose pain has resisted every other explanation, it often offers something that nothing else has: a different question to ask, and a body that’s ready to answer it.
